A HDPE production facility was set up in MEIL’s Spiral Mill Division, Gowdavelli, to cater to the increasing demand for the pipes in the current market. The management has taken this decision because the market is receptive and there is a lot of scope for HDPE pipes in today’s infra development works.
PE (polyethylene) pipes are rapidly replacing ERW (Electric Resistance Welded) pipes because of better suitability and a host of other advantages like,
» Eliminates corrosion
» Ease of laying thereby ensuring faster work progress
Two lines of production have been set-up at the HDPE facility with a provision for a third line. Line 1 is equipped to handle a production capacity of 450 kg/hr. with pipe ranges between 25 DN and 250 DN for pressure ratings between Pn 2.5 and Pn 16. Line 2 will be able to handle a capacity of 900 kg/hr. with pipe ranges between 160 DN and 400 DN for pressure ratings from Pn 4 to Pn 16.
The production raw material includes HDPE granules of grades PE63, PE80, PE100 and master batches black/blue. The pipes will be manufactured as per IS 4984.
