Zojila Pass, is the connecting link for the strategic Leh-Ladakh region to Srinagar and with the rest of India. This key, strategic project will also contribute to the integrated development of the Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh regions.

MEIL is constructing the prestigious tunnel project in the Himalayas in a very peculiar atmospheric and hard terrain conditions under EPC mode. The length of the tunnel is 14.15 km, which is India’s longest road tunnel and Asia’s longest Bi-directional tunnel. Zoji La will provide all weather connectivity to strategically important area throughout the year.

The entire work is divided in to two divisions in 33 Km span. The first division consists development of highway length of 18.5 km. It contains two tunnels, the first one is 435 meters and second is 1950 meters. In the second division is construct the Zojila tunnel of 14.15 km in to two lane highway in Horse shoe shape.

An advanced technology with New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM) is being used in this work and it is the first of its kind in the country.

A history has been created by manufacturing Rigs indigenously and supplying them to India’s public sector oil and gas major ONGC.

Out of 47 Rigs meant for ONGC 20 are Work over Rigs and 27 are Land Drilling Rigs. The first rig which is operational and equipped with advanced hydraulic technology has completed drilling of one oil well, at Kalol oil field, Dhamasana Village in Gujarat.

This 1500 HP land drilling rig can easily drill oil wells to the depths of 4000 metres (4 kilo metres) from the surface level. The rigs are being manufactured under the prestigious ‘Make in India’ and “AtmaNirbhar Bharat” Policies. MEIL is the first private firm in the country to make and use the oil and gas extraction rigs with Indigenous Technology.

In 2019, MEIL acquired Italy-based Drillmec, a specialist in oil and gas drilling and the firm currently has manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad and Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh. The oil and gas companies can save considerable time and other resources by deploying these indigenous rigs.

A 525 MW thermal plant at Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu has been built and was successfully integrated with the Grid. MEIL built the thermal power plant for the group company SEPC. A 37 hectares extent of land was taken on lease from VO Chidambaranar port trust for the project.

A huge 275 meters high chimney was built to reduce pollution as per Department of Environment’s guidelines. Seawater cooling technology has been used in the water treatment plant. MEIL has also built an Ash Pond on a 100-hectare plot of land at Kariseri village in Vadakku to pile up the ash from the project to minimise the air pollution. MEIL has installed a 1700 TPH capacity boiler and installed a 555 MW turbine supplied by BHEL.

MEIL has already built a 500 TPH Coal Handling Plant, also supplied 15000 tons of steel and 10-kilometre CW pipeline for the project. A 48 km long Transmission line was laid for the evacuation of power. MEIL completed this project in the EPC mode.
